one, two, buckle my shoe

Hello errrrverybody. I hope you're all doing spectacular. Yes? Yes.
We're two weeks into this whole four-person family gig and things are starting to get a little better, a little sweeter, a little smoother... more smoothest. Most smoothest? Alrighty then.
The beginning of the week was just plain terrible: doctors appointments at ungodly early morning hours, poor sleep, a jealous one year old and a constant stream of house guests. Now mind you, I'm not saying house guests are a bad thing and many came bearing gifts of food (hooray) but it was becoming quite stressful constantly having to dash to put on a bra and pants, comb my hair, tidy up the house and make sure the kids are presentable. Sometimes mommy just wants to lounge on the couch with a beer and browse Pinterest for an hour or two without having to answer the door all day long. Is that so much to ask?
Last Sunday we got poor neglected River out of the house for a spell and took him on a much needed trip to the park. The weather was awesome and River was having a blasty blast until some creep approached him and crossed over in the the stranger danger zone by practically stalking him. This strange man was super focused on River and wouldn't leave his side so our visit to the park was cut short. As we were leaving I turned to look at the man and saw him swinging alone on the swing set. He was clearly not a mentally stable person but still, not a very desirable character to have hanging around a playground.

Today (Sunday) we went to church. This was one of the few times I've actually had a reason to put nice clothes and makeup since Cedar Girl was born. Sure, I could dress up to sit around the house and take care of two babies and plan a renaissance faire but um... that only means more laundry to wash. So no. I 'm not gonna do that.
Dress: Old Navy clearance rack months ago (first time worn today)
Necklace: Gift
Purse: Salvation Army
Shoes: Walmart clearance

And this is Cedar's first time going to church AND wearing a dress!
The dress she's wearing was found in bin full of hand-me-down baby clothes I received from a friend. It still had the tags on it! Sweet freebie, yeah?
So that was my week. How was yours? Read any good books lately? or um, eaten anything good? Can I have a bite?

  1. Cedar is beautiful - she looks so wise already. I hope River gets over his jealousy and realizes that little sisters are cool, and that they'll have lots of fun together for the rest of their lives.

You're lookin' good, Marathon Mom! You deserve to take it easy - maybe after the Faire. Love the green shoes!

  2. Oh those little baby dresses with their shocking and those little baby girls already cornering the fashion scene at church. She will be stylin' like her mama and River and Dad will be very protective because she is some kind of gorgeous! Pervs should just stay home on the Internet where they belong. Sheesh! Speaking of Pinterest you are a Pin Star!!!!

  4. Really cute photos of the kids. Ceder is beautiful and so sweet in her dress. You look great and so pretty too. These days you have to watch your kids like a hawk, but it was obvious he was mental, creepy.

  5. I'm so glad you listened to your gut and got River away from the playground prowler, wtf? I'm sure he was still so happy to get and play, and please give mama time for beer and the Internet! Lol! You look pretty in your church outfit, hippy chic baby!
I just finished a graphic novel called I kill Giants, it was cool, weird not what I expected, I'm always eating good stuff. Tonight I made grilled chicken quesadillas with sweet peppers on a white corn tortilla topped with avocado sour cream and hot ass salsa. For dessert I had a vanilla bean gelato ice cream bar dipped in dark chocolate. Food rules, hope your drooling!

  8. Great update! Cedar is so cute ... And so tiny. I love the shot of the two babes in the car. And you sure look pretty all dressed up for church. I totally know what you mean about not dressing up to hang around the house, says the woman who wore her (cute) nightgown all day today!

  9. Cedar and River look so cute in that photo, unlike me and my brother, I'd already pushed his pram through a plate glass window and kicked him out of his cot in the week after he came home from hospital. xxx

  12. Good to hear you're all doing well. Cedar is adorable.

Sorry to hear about the stalker episode. Parenting is hard these days. Last week I was walking by a children's playground in NYC and saw a sign saying, "No Adults Without Children." It startled me -- why would an adult without a child even think about going into a kid's playground?

  13. Food? We drove across the Southwest, twice. I had more tasty Mexican food than one person should eat. The wedding had Yucatan food. I gained 5 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You look sweet in your new dress and I'm loving the Dad/daughter photo.

  16. Well, guests with food are better than guests without. And if you see the perve again, take his photo if you can and maybe send it to the station? Is that too extreme? The behaviour sounds waaay off. I love the photo of River with Cedar on the couch. And you look gorgeous in that dress with that pop of green in your shoes.
