Yeah, so it's cold and sleeting here. Little bouncy pellets of ice falling like rain, sounding so nice... making me all sleepy and stuff.

So, last night we all had dinner at a new friend's house. She's got this boho thing going on that's super groovy. She thrift shops for ethnic clothing and wears kurtis to church with chopsticks in her hair. We're probably the only two people in Texarkana who give a hoot about ethnic clothing and accessories. She's neato. You probably can't see that she's wearing a Native American choker and Peruvian earrings... with a Monopoly shirt. Cool.

Since I'm such I great guest, I made this cake for our dessert.

Lemme rephrase that.

I made it...

...to the grocery store to buy it for us to have for dessert.

 And I just had to share this. This is what Cedar wore to church yesterday morning. Being $8 at a consignment shop, I think this is the most "expensive" dress I've ever bought for her. I just HAD to get it, guys. Surely you see why.

So it's 29F and sleeting and the whole darn city has shut down. Even schools and colleges have cancelled classes. I'm serious. Why? Because our poor town just isn't equipped for winter weather. The ice just builds up on everything and turns the whole dang town into and giant jacked up ice rink. I can't even get down the three steps of my home without slipping and busting my buns.

The last time we had a storm like was in 1999 or 2000. We all thought, "Meh, ice. No biggie," but overnight the entire region iced over. It killed power in some towns for almost a week. It brought trees down onto houses and roads and caused mucho destruction. So yeah, everyone's still a little gun shy after that one.

You Northerners might call this daily life.

For us, it's the friggin' apocalypse.

what for the Holliedays

 I wish I had photos to show you of my Christmas party Saturday but there are none.  I had to cancel it. Yeah. The husband and I aren't doing too well financially right now so we had to let it go. Meh, we'll make up for it next year...hopefully. We're so broke right now I've started pimping out my husband- but we're not making much money off of him because he won't do white chicks.

 So with life's foot constantly up our pocketbook's arse, we weren't able to go out and splurge on cutesy Holiday outfits for our church's special Holiday service. No biggie. I like a good challenge. 

  Husband's attire included a thrifted shirt and suspenders and an authentic Ramsay tartan tie handed down from his brother who passed away a few years ago.

 Cedar's outfit is all handmedowns from River, glammed up with a $1 eBay tutu and gifted hat.

The last time I wore this vintage Lane Bryant dress was Valentines. I got it from Listia.com; a site that's like eBay, but with points instead of money.

I made this hairpiece last year in about five minutes for a Christmas event I didn't even go to. It's just poinsettias and gold glitter balls on a comb.

River wore a handmedown sweater and... a strange expression.

It's no fun being broke around the holidays, but heck. We're broke all the time! We're used to it! Hee hee! Ok, it's not really funny but I'm not going to cry about it. We'll survive!

Howdy ya'll!! You guys ready for some pics from the week? No? Well, TOO BAD! Here they are coming atcha. But first: me. You likey? Yes? Awesome. Wanna go out later? Me and you. Maybe we could have a few beers and play some golf and see where the evening takes us? No? Fine. You're not my type anyway.

So, it's cold as heck here and I'm lovin' it. It was so cold (and rainy) today that I wore two dresses. Stripes and plaids, yo. My favorite combo. Well, the plaid dress is a cheapo online find that shrank several sizes after the first washing, so now it's really just a shirt. I haven't had a chance to get any warmer clothes for my still blubbery post-pregnancy body. I'm broke and car-less anyway so I'll probably be double layering dresses a lot this season.

What a nerd.

  I've been pretty unhappy with the thinness of my brows lately. I've never had a problem with them before and all of a sudden I felt that I needed to do something about them - I blame Pinterest. I suck at filling them in - I do it everyday and I still can't get it right so I browsed the web to see if there was such a thing as eyebrow stencils. And sure enough! 

Look! I got suckbrows! 

I think this whole eyebrow stencil thing would be better for me if the stencils were adhesive and if I had a darker brow pencil.. and friggin' knew what I was doing. 

So anywaaaaays... River wore polka dots and skinny jeans to church today. I had no idea how skinny those darn pants were when I got them. They look like dude leggings.

 And all in hot pink is Miss Cedar. Along with her thrifted $2 dress she's sporting a pair of 99 cent ruffle bloomers bought from China on Ebay. Thank you China for always being there for me. 

The dress is so fluffy! Doesn't her dress remind you of those dolls old ladies crochet to cover toilet paper rolls?

So what's up with it ya'll? Me? I'm sleep deprived, I'm stressed,  I'm cranky, I smell weird and often times I have a plastic cup of wine in my hand well before dinnertime. My faire is THIS weekend and the non-profit we've partnered with is not holding up their end of the deal. Their job is to advertise the faire with TV and radio spots, print ads, etc... the faire is this upcoming Saturday and that hasn't been done yet.

So, yep, I'm stressed out. This is my biggest event of the year, it needs to bring in over 3,000 people to get get in the black and it has barely been advertised!  I'm frustrated and my partners are about to get a roundhouse kick to the face straight Chuck Norris style.

UGH! This is why I like to work alone. See? This is the face of a loner. I'm cute. I know.

Cedar Girl was baptized this Sunday. I gave my camera to my mother-in-law to snap a couple of pics for us but I failed to tell her not to zoom in on the camera... so we got really poopy pics.

Cedar wore a vintage handmade gown that was included in a trash bag full of baby clothes someone gave us and this adorable bonnet I got from China on Ebay for $2. Her regular dress (below) also came from Ebay. It came with another cute little white dress - two dresses for 99 cents! WIN!

I've got a weird eye thing going on. River looks like he ate a bee and Cedar just isn't feeling it.

Hello errrrverybody. I hope you're all doing spectacular. Yes? Yes.

We're two weeks into this whole four-person family gig and things are starting to get a little better, a little sweeter, a little smoother... more smoothest. Most smoothest? Alrighty then.

The beginning of the week was just plain terrible: doctors appointments at ungodly early morning hours, poor sleep, a jealous one year old and a constant stream of house guests. Now mind you, I'm not saying house guests are a bad thing and many came bearing gifts of food (hooray) but it was becoming quite stressful constantly having to dash to put on a bra and pants, comb my hair, tidy up the house and make sure the kids are presentable. Sometimes mommy just wants to lounge on the couch with a beer and browse Pinterest for an hour or two without having to answer the door all day long. Is that so much to ask?

Last Sunday we got poor neglected River out of the house for a spell and took him on a much needed trip to the park. The weather was awesome and River was having a blasty blast until some creep approached him and crossed over in the the stranger danger zone by practically stalking him. This strange man was super focused on River and wouldn't leave his side so our visit to the park was cut short. As we were leaving I turned to look at the man and saw him swinging alone on the swing set. He was clearly not a mentally stable person but still, not a very desirable character to have hanging around a playground.

Today (Sunday) we went to church. This was one of the few times I've actually had a reason to put nice clothes and makeup since Cedar Girl was born. Sure, I could dress up to sit around the house and take care of two babies and plan a renaissance faire but um... that only means more laundry to wash. So no. I 'm not gonna do that.

The dress she's wearing was found in bin full of hand-me-down baby clothes I received from a friend. It still had the tags on it! Sweet freebie, yeah?
