wine, beer, snap, tatt

Texarkana Wine Festival
Yesterday me and the family went to our town's first ever WINE FESTIVAL.
Yes, folks. An "alternative" event that I DIDN'T host!
When I heard of the town getting a wine festival, I was a bit afraid for them taking such a big leap because I know from experience, Texarkana doesn't take to kindly to anything.... different.
Most Texarkana people like carnivals, monster truck rallies, rodeos and gun and knife shows.
This event was for "everyone else".
Texarkana, you nailed it!
Every vendor was a local business or restaurant. There were no loud buzzing trailers selling funnels cakes and over priced nachos. No blow up Spongebobs on a stick and no rowdy kids bopping each other with bootleg rainbow colored light sabers and best of all there wasn't a redneck in sight.

At the festival we ran into a good friend...
and more friends... and some others that I cut out so this post wouldn't run on for days...

Mingled with good people...
Saw some good arts and crafts...

Ate some gooooood food - I'm munching on crawfish and grits and duck fat fries...

Fell in love with this trailer. I thought about buying it off the vendor but I didn't have the cash and it didn't have a toilet.... or room for anything besides, making tea, sleeping and eating... and pooping in a paint can maybe.

Since beer was only being sold from one tent, the line was pretty long and we were pretty much done with the festival any way so we all went to a little pub thingy downtown called Hopkins Icehouse for some affordable cold beer to drink on the patio.

I think this looks says, "A little IPA for me too, eh dad?"

And the night ended with a bang...
getting a tattoo
er... ended with pain more like.
getting a tattoo
I finally got that tattoo I've been trying to get for the past two years! I just couldn't find the right mehndi design that spoke to me but this one does. This is my fifth tattoo and my first one in six years and I hope to get many many more. Maybe next time I'll get one on my left tonsil.

And before I go, dig this: I opened up an Amazon fundraising store for our travel trailer adventures. Check out THIS POST to see how it works and why I've started it and all that good stuff or click the banner below to check it out. Thanks!
YAY!
Time to go blog-stalk YOU now.

gone cross eyed

Howdy ya'll!! You guys ready for some pics from the week? No? Well, TOO BAD! Here they are coming atcha. But first: me. You likey? Yes? Awesome. Wanna go out later? Me and you. Maybe we could have a few beers and play some golf and see where the evening takes us? No? Fine. You're not my type anyway.
So, it's cold as heck here and I'm lovin' it. It was so cold (and rainy) today that I wore two dresses. Stripes and plaids, yo. My favorite combo. Well, the plaid dress is a cheapo online find that shrank several sizes after the first washing, so now it's really just a shirt. I haven't had a chance to get any warmer clothes for my still blubbery post-pregnancy body. I'm broke and car-less anyway so I'll probably be double layering dresses a lot this season.

I found these records today digging through some leftover stuff from our Church's rummage sale they hosted last weekend. Ten cents each! YEAH!
 Beers of the week:
 River's new favorite "toys".
What a nerd.
I've been pretty unhappy with the thinness of my brows lately. I've never had a problem with them before and all of a sudden I felt that I needed to do something about them - I blame Pinterest. I suck at filling them in - I do it everyday and I still can't get it right so I browsed the web to see if there was such a thing as eyebrow stencils. And sure enough!
Look! I got suckbrows!
I think this whole eyebrow stencil thing would be better for me if the stencils were adhesive and if I had a darker brow pencil.. and friggin' knew what I was doing.
So anywaaaaays... River wore polka dots and skinny jeans to church today. I had no idea how skinny those darn pants were when I got them. They look like dude leggings.
And all in hot pink is Miss Cedar. Along with her thrifted $2 dress she's sporting a pair of 99 cent ruffle bloomers bought from China on Ebay. Thank you China for always being there for me.
The dress is so fluffy! Doesn't her dress remind you of those dolls old ladies crochet to cover toilet paper rolls?

the caveman barks at night

This week has been filled with nothing but faire work. Promoting, planning, organizing, freaking out... from the moment I wake up all the way until time to go to bed. Fair, faire, faire.
Today, I knew I was reaching my snapping point when I almost threw my computer across the room because I couldn't get the words to line up just right on a flyer I was designing for a beard and moustache competition I'm hosting next month. I need to chill out.
Sushi time.
So me and the Husband and little one went to Osaka's for a bit of sushi and sake. I rarely get to leave the house these days since we're down to one vehicle at the moment so getting out was soooo nice.
For sushi-time I wore a sheer hand-me-down dress over a tribal print tank dress. I loved how the print of the tank can be seen through the floral pattern of the dress. I've had this dress forever and it was one of my go-to maternity dresses, but I've never thought of wearing it over something with print until now. Plus this is the first time I've ever worn the dress it without legging. It's too dang hot. I'll break into a sweat just thinking about putting leggings on.

  Now. Let's get random.
These photos have been sitting in my "blogging to-do folder" for a few weeks.

A couple of weeks ago River got to see his Grandaddy for the first time since he was born! See, my little sister is autistic and has developed a severe phobia of babies over the past year so my dad has only seen River through cell phone photos because we can't bring him around. Also my father is on a lot of different medications that sometimes make him very drowsy so he has trouble travelling long distances (we live almost two hours apart). But he made it!

Scrambled eggs with spinach and kale, leftover salmon and a squishy-ass Walmart avocado.
The paleo-ing is going very well. Kicking off carbs, sugar and processed foods has been surprisingly easy for me... but I am having trouble letting go of one thing... my beloved imported beers. I hear tale that it's ok to  go for gluten free beer when you're going paleo... but- but... IT'S NOT THE SAME!!!
Random, random, random.
Here's a photo of my great-grandmother (Dad's grandmother). Wasn't she pretty?!? I think I have her eyes.
Spinning the random wheel! It lands on.... River's baptism.
Since River had long since outgrew his original baptism outfit  I was in a slight panic over what he was going to wear. I found this adorable classic style romper at a consignment shop for $8 and I was sold! It's so adorable! Yeah, yeah, yeah I know it isn't the typical infant baptism outfit with the satin and ribbons and bonnet and lacey boo boo blah- but I just couldn't see myself spending $100 on something he's only going to wear for five minutes...
And last but not least: our pathetic attempts at taking a decent family portrait afterwards.
I hope you all are having a great weekend. Now I'm off to finish my nightcap... um...paleo gin...
